Shaikh Salman Bin Ahmed Al Faith Fort
This Fort was built by Shaikh Salman bin Ahmed Al faith in 1812, and lies atop a high vantage point overlooking the surrounding desert. It was used by Shaikh Salman as his seat of government. The Fort has four towers at its corners, with two of being circular and the other two having a square shape. The towers are connected to each other by an overhead passage and consist of resedential chambers and related facilities. It is belived that the fort was built on the ruins of a castle that dates back to 1698. |

Arad Fort
Situated on the island of Muharraq, Arad Fort was built in the 17th Century and used by the Omanis during thir short occupation of Bahrain in 1800. It is a fortified structure overlooking the waterways that provides access to Bahrain from this side. The Fort is buil in a square shape with a circular towre in each corner. It was also surrounded by a small moat that used to be filled with water from wells dug for this purpose. The Fort was used during the pre-Portuguese era. |

Basket Weaving
This handicraft activity can be seen at several locations in the village of Karabadad, a few meters from the ancient site of bahrain Fort. it is one of the ancient traditional crefts that is still being practiced even today. A pitch-coated collection of such traditionally-made baskets was discovered in 4,000-years-old mounds. |

Pottery Making
The art of pottery-making can be witnessed in the village of Aáli, one of the oldest villages that houses, 4,000-year old archaeological mounds. This industry is considered to be an ancient one as some artefacts found in the mounds date back to the Dilmun age. |

Tree of Life
This well-matured tree has come to be known as the "Tree of Life" because of the mystery surrounding its existance in the middle of the desert without any known water source. The fact that it satand alone in this area has further heightened the curiosity of visitors and specialists alike for many years. The tree, which is belived to be from the Acacia species, sheds its leaves in winter and grows yellow flower, which are prominent during Spring and Autumn. |
